Unexpected things happen quickly sometimes, and they are not always pleasant. If you have laid the groundwork to be constantly alert to your surroundings, constantly aware of what is happening at the fringe, attuned to the emotions and thoughts of others, and you look for changes and patterns others miss, then your chances of surviving danger are so much better than the simple who pass on and never see what hits them, or the unaware who are unwise and refuse to learn. Alertness~ being prepared and practiced, and knowing enough to act quickly when dangers arise.
