Many Christians today speak only of the blessings of God and reject the persecution we go through. We know persecution is part of the Christian walk, but does it mean that we can’t have blessings? Where do we draw the line between prosperity and persecution? Doing well with all life’s bounty surrounding you and getting attacked at the same time… that doesn’t seem to be much of a blessing, but a closer look at the Scriptures may tell a different story, depending upon your focus. The key is how you define “prosperity”, “blessing”, and “persecution.”
According to the world, prosperity is wealth, health, and fine foods. At your hand is all you can buy and the money to do so. Persecution, on the other hand, is all the attacks and opposition that comes to tear you down, steal your ‘stuff’ and keep you from prospering. It might be motivated by be jealousy or hard feelings. It may be just a difficult person acting out...
Many Christians today speak only of the blessings of God and reject the persecution we might go through. However, Jesus tells us a different motive for persecution, IF we are walking according to His righteousness and His direction. Listen as Deacon Joshua challenges today’s accepted definitions of prosperity and persecution, and see if you might just have accepted as truth the wrong definitions….
